President's Report

Jill Adams, MAI, AI-GRS
2021 Kansas City Chapter of the Appraisal Institute President
Thank you to those of you who joined us for the officer installation zoom call. For those who weren’t able to join us, we missed you!
On behalf of the chapter, I’d like to thank Alex for serving as chapter president in 2020 and for his service over the past several years. None of us knew what 2020 had in store for us when we were installed last December!
I have really enjoyed working on the board over the past several years and I look forward to working with you all as president of our chapter in 2021 along with Vice President Daniel Frazee, MAI; Treasurer Brock Heyde, MAI; Secretary Andrew Baker, MAI; Directors Brian McHenry, MAI; Jessica Perryman; Patrick Brown, SRA; and Immediate Past President Alex Hoenig, MAI. While we aren’t sure what in person gatherings look like for 2021, we are hopeful we will be able to host some in person events soon. Over the next year, we want to strengthen our partnership with UMKC and increase our exposure with meeting invitations to current students with an interest in real estate. We also plan to continue our presence at their annual real estate symposium.
Last year we established the Marian Fields Service Award to recognize a member of our chapter who goes above and beyond in their volunteer roles with the chapter. Since our chapter activities were largely shut down this year, we have not awarded this in 2020. Please know honoring Marian’s memory is very important to us and this award is very important to us. We look forward to bringing this back when we are active again.
We are always looking for more people to join chapter committees. If you are interested in a committee or have any other questions about chapter activity, please reach out to me.

Next Step In Your Career
Have you ever considered taking the next step in your appraisal career or wondered what you could do to give back a little for some of the benefits you have received from this career? A good place to start is with committee membership at the local chapter level. The local chapter has several committees that serve a vital function in keeping our chapter strong, while typically not requiring a great time commitment.
If you would be interested in potentially serving on a chapter committee, please email [email protected] and express your interest as we are assessing committee membership for next year.
